Nicolette Kluijver

For this special collection we joined forces with Nicolette Kluijver, presenter, adventurer and ambassador of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). Together we designed a limited edition series of travel towels, inspired by the colours, animals and landscapes of Africa.

The prints tell a story. About wild nature, free animals and the vulnerability of the ecosystem. About elephants that travel across Africa in search of space, safety and connection. And about the need to continue to protect that space.

Nicolette Kluijver about Buvanha

With great pleasure I designed my own travel towel for Buvanha, inspired by my wonderful trips to Kenya and Zimbabwe. Travels where the relationship between humans and animals was central. I hope you enjoy it a lot this summer.

Lots of love Nicolette xxx

Support the African elephant

As an ambassador for IFAW, Nicolette is committed to their Room to Roam initiative to protect elephants and their habitats in Africa. By purchasing this travel towel, you are helping to protect elephants and other wild animals.

Read more about IFAW and how our partnership with Nicolette contributes to this below.

IFAW is an international organization dedicated to saving wildlife and conserving biodiversity and nature. IFAW rescues, rehabilitates and releases animals back into the wild. Their natural habitats are also restored and protected.

Habitat loss and fragmentation, climate change, and increased human-wildlife conflict are driving elephants, among others, out of their natural habitats. IFAW's Room to Roam is a large-scale, collaborative initiative to secure and connect habitats so elephants and other wildlife can roam safely in East and Southern Africa.

As an IFAW ambassador, Nicolette Kluijver uses her public image, voice and professional network to raise awareness of the critical situation of African elephants. During her project visits in Zimbabwe and Kenya, she has experienced first-hand how IFAW helps protect animals and the impact this work has on both animals and people.

  • IFAW supports hundreds of wildlife rangers who risk their lives every day to patrol and prevent poaching and human-wildlife conflict. When a report comes in that an elephant calf has been found, it is taken to one of our sanctuaries , where it is rehabilitated (often years of 24-hour care) and, where possible, released back into the wild.
  • IFAW leases land from local communities so that they have a steady income and elephants have free passage. The land is not used for agricultural practices, but cattle can graze there and it reduces retaliation after, for example, a lion has taken a goat or cow.
  • IFAW offers training programs for young women, among others , so that they have the opportunity to develop themselves and set up their own business, which results in a more stable income for the family and less risk of conflict situations between humans and animals in the fight for the same water and food sources.

The problems IFAW tackles around the world are urgent and complex. That's why we work with local communities, NGOs, governments and businesses to find viable and innovative solutions. How does IFAW do that? Visit ifaw.org

For every towel sold, we donate €1.00 of the proceeds to IFAW. Their Room to Roam initiative helps connect elephant habitats in East and Southern Africa. This allows more than 300,000 elephants migrate safely and survive in a world where their space is shrinking.

Nicolette herself visited IFAW projects in Zimbabwe and Kenya and saw the impact of this work with her own eyes. Her love for animals and nature is reflected in the design and in this collaboration.

With these travel towels you not only travel the world, but you also directly contribute to a better future for wild animals.
